The first GANES family picnic was held at the River Pavilion at Red Bank Battlefield Park. The weather was sunny and hot! Picnic-goers enjoyed the park, playgrounds, and an entirely "safe" menu of delicious choices. The main entrée of hamburgers and hotdogs, along with beverages and "ice-cream" treats were provided by GANES. Angie's mom Cheryl baked a cake featuring our newly designed group logo. Each family brought along a favorite recipe or goodie to share.

We had a brief meeting to discuss the structure of GANES and ideas for the group. Angie gave an overview of the start-up of the group, its structure, and ideas for fundraising and upcoming programs. There will be a get-together planned for September or October 2004 to coincide with Ray Mansfield, an adult with galactosemia, being in Philadelphia to participate in a research study at CHOP. Chris gave an update on his efforts to begin the toner-recycling through his employer. Families had the opportunity to share ideas about the group and network with each other.
